I really like this item. It's the perfect size for making a 4-6 serving casseroles. You can bake and store in the same container. The clean up is easy. Even with baked on food debris, it only requires a few minutes of soaking in soapy water and then it cleans up like new. I use this bakeware for making Junior's New York style cheesecake. It the perfect depth for a nice dense cheesecake and I can bake, serve and store in the same container. Junior's cheesecake recipe requires placing the dish in a water bath while baking, so the cake slices up cleanly out of this dish.

I gave this to my daughter for Christmas and she hasn't used it yet, but it is Pyrex and I've always had good luck with it. I have a Pyrex casserole dish that is 26 yrs. old! (Wedding gift) This one is different because it is deeper and smaller around than my other ones. I hope this doesn't affect the way the food cooks, or the time. It was packaged very well with bubble wrap for shipping.

I have had the brown glass version for a very long time, don't even remember if it was a wedding gift or if I picked it up somewhere but when my bowl broke (not the lid!) my 3 girls went berserk! "You broke the soup bowl?? Awww! That's the first thing I learned to cook in! Soup heated up in the micro!" All 3, at three different times expressed the same sentiment..."but you have to get a NEW one!"...so I am getting them all their own for Christmas and they can stash them away in their hope chests!

We've had a number of these dishes over the years. They're simple, easy to clean, and something everyone should have in their kitchen.
Why, then, did I only give this a three-star rating? Well, the main thing we use these for is cooking veggies in the microwave. Because of the bowl shape, however, it's nearly impossible to scoop vegetables (or anything else, really), out without flipping some of the food out of the dish, and onto the table or floor. You can get around this, by holding your hand or another utensil over the edge as you scoop, so the hand or utensil catches the food - but really, who wants to have to mess with that?
I'm shopping for something with vertical sides!

This is a great purchase! I use it for everything, holds quite a bit and is simple and nice enough to serve out of. I will be buying more of these.
