This was an excellent purchase. I was looking at procuring the whole set of pyrex covered storage, but wanted to make sure I liked the product before purchasing a whole set. This piece is fantastic. It is very versatile, you can use it as a small mixing bowl if you are mixing just a cup of liquid or so or an egg. You can use it as a serving piece for nuts or munchies, because it has an attractive design. The bowl has really nice ridges in it and it reminds me of Depression Era glass. I've gotten some compliments on it! And functionally, it is wonderful for storing, particularly hot foods. I had been concerned pouring warm or hot food into plastic containers for storage. That's not good for anyone's health. This piece can handle it! And I feel so much better pouring my hot food into pyrex to go into the fridge than plastic.
One caveat, you need to let the glass cool a bit before putting it in the oven. because the temperature changes can cause shattering. I've mostly used it for storing, serving and mixing, rather than heating, so I haven't had any problems. Highly recommended.

We've got nearly a dozen of these 3-cup Pyrex bowls. We use them for over-sized cereal bowls (so the milk doesn't splash out when carrying) and we use them as left-over bowls in the refrigerator.
The more bad things I read about plastic containers and how they leach chemicals into food and drink, the more I move toward glass for storage. (And stainless steel for refillable water bottles.)
We've had our Pyrex bowls for several years. They are good as new. And surprisingly, all of the blue lids are still working great, as well.

I bought this to replace the regular round storage bowls by Pyrex. (It got to the point that it was difficult to put on and remove the lids as I have arthitic hands.)
I love the textured bowl which makes it look old fashioned.

We have 6 or 7 of these bowls and I think they are the best size for left-overs. They have carried soups, chili, salads, etc. to work. They are more expensive and are heavier than plastic containers, but they are very durable (have lasted us many years and still going strong) and I believe they are healthier to store food in than all-plastic containers.
I recommend washing the lids by hand. I have been doing this for many years and these lids still seal very well (unlike the Pyrex set that I bought in 1993 that I consistently ran through the dishwasher and the lids don't fit as snugly).
