Marinex Glass Bakeware production began over 50 years ago by Santa Marina, the largest glass manufacturer in Latin America. Located in Brazil, Santa Marina has been producing different glass products since 1895. The factory location is close to raw material deposits of boron and sand which is rich in color and quality. During the production process, these raw materials are combined using heat to make borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is resistant to changes in temperatures used in cooking and baking. The raw materials also give Marinex glass bakeware a slight bluish tint consistant throughout all pieces. Marinex Glass Bakeware offers several shapes and sizes that have countless uses in culinary activities and are prominent by their beauty, durability, and ease of cleaning. It can be used to prepare, bake, and serve food as well as to freeze prepared food. It is safe for both conventional ovens and microwave ovens. Marinex Bakeware can go from the freezer/refrigerator to a pre-heated oven where the oven temperature does not exceed 100C or 212F to start. However, Marinex Bakeware should not be used on stovetop burners or over a direct flame. This 5pc. assorted bakeware set contains a 3qt. large rectangular baking dish(15.5" x 9.25" x 2"), a small 1.7qt. rectangular baking dish(11-5/8" x 7" x 2"), a 2.5qt. oval baking dish(11-3/4" x 8-1/4" x 2-1/2"), and a 1.6qt. round casserole(9-1/2" x 8-1/8" x 3-1/4") with lid.  "Poorly packaged for shipping" 2010-03-06
By Texas Bill
My order arrived with two of the bowls chipped and the original Marinex box shredded. I have nothing in which to return the order without purchasing additional shipping materials. The original Marinex box was wrapped in about an inch of bubble wrap, then placed loosely in another larger box.

After reading various reviews about the changes made in manufacturing Pyrex bakeware, I was interested in the manufacture method used by Marinex. The first box came with one of the pieces shattered in the poorly padded box. A replacement box appeared well padded but, on inspection, the largest piece was chipped.

I have used some very old Pyrex bakeware that was made to a much better standard than these Marinex pieces. The Marinex appears to be cheaply made and I am not confident it will serve me as well as the older Pyrex products. I would not recommend Marinex regardless of how they are produced.

"Real Borosilicate- best glass available" 2009-10-04
By Mac G (NC, USA)
Marinex is made of what Pyrex USED to be made of-- borosilicate glass. This is the highest quality glass you can get for bakeware. Pyrex is now almost always made of some kind of cheaper lime-silicate that will not stand up to freezer to oven use, like this will.
